Prophet On Premise SSL Configuration Steps

Overview

Prophet can be configured to use a secure SSL URL.  This allows Users to connect to your On Premise Prophet Server from outside your firewall.

SSL is  also needed to use Prophet's Analytics and Mobile features.

Steps for Internet Information Services (IIS)

These first steps should be known by your IIS Managers.  Here's a guide to help. The steps and screenshots might be different in your configuration.

Once you've purchased and installed the SSL Certificate, you'll add the binding.

Open IIS, select the Default Website, right-click and click Edit Bindings.  You can also click Bindings on the right Actions list.

Click Add.

Enter the values like this:

Type:
In the drop-down list, select https.
IP address:
In the drop-down list, select All Unassigned.
Port:
Enter 443. The port for SSL traffic is usually port 443.
Host name:
Enter your website’s DNS name (standard example:  prophet.domain.com)
SSL certificate:
In the drop-down list, select the SSL certificate by its friendly name (*.yourdomain.com).

Change Prophet Web Configuration to use HTTPS

Open c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Prophet\ProphetWebServices\AvtWCF

You might need to edit the files to remove the Read-only option.

Rename Web.config to Web.config.original.  If prompted, click OK to the warning about changing the extension.

Copy Web.SSL and rename it Web.config.

Restart IIS.

You should be able to login to the Prophet Administrator website using https://YourServer.Name.ext/Prophet/Admin/Login.aspx.  You'll need one of the Prophet Admin's email and Prophet password.

Outlook Client Update.

In e.g. Opportunity Manager, click Prophet's Tools button to open Prophet Administrator.

Check the option for "On Premise Server" and enter the the URL.  It is not case sensitive.  Click Set to verify it is correct.

https://YourServer.Name.ext/Prophet/ProphetWebServices

Restart Outlook and test.
